Editorial Steering Committee to Advise International Civic League

ALEXANDRIA, VA, MAY 1, 2006 — The Tibetan Mongolian Museum Society issues the following announcement, issued by Eric Dagva-Hatchell, Editorial Steering Committee Chair.

Mr Dagva-Hatchell stated, "As the husband of our Board of Directors, I have been charged with the task of assembling this TMMS committee comprised of friendly colleagues in the field who offer a watchful eye over our site and the Society. This assignment I have regarded as a wonderful way of improving our group as a whole, while individually expanding my own horizons. Altangerel, Anuran

Presently the Vice Director for the Association of Mongolian Antiquaries, Altangerel A. is the Curator for the first privately owned Art Museum in Mongolia. He is a collector and connoisseur of Mongolian antiquities. Following the end of the socialist regime, he began preserving Mongolian Art, some fifteen years ago, and more recently, has authored the book, Treasures of Mongolian Art, which includes early bronzes of the Hunnu period, magnificent sculptures cast by Zanabazar himself (1635-1723), as well as from the school of Zanabazar and other religious artifacts.

Being built in Australia now, this Stupa will be the same size and design as the great Gyantse in Tibet. The Dalai Lama has said of this project: "At this moment, when the Tibetan cultural heritage is facing extinction this Tibetan style Stupa will be very significant for Buddhist spirituality and Tibetan Buddhist culture. Support for such noble work is a good method to create virtuous karma." Ian is also a Board member of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (USA & Australia) and he is a partner in a well-established marketing and advertising firm called Challenges Accepted.
  
  
Glenn H. Mullin

Glenn lived in the Indian Himalayas between 1972 and 1984, where he studied philosophy, literature, meditation, yoga, and the enlightenment culture under thirty-five of the greatest living masters of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism. His two principal tantric gurus were the late great masters Kyabje Ling Dorjechang and Kyabje Trijang Dorjechang, who were best known as Yongdzin Che Chung, the two main gurus of the present Dalai Lama. Glenn is the author of " twenty-five or so" books on Tibetan Buddhism and acts as an advisor to groups traveling to sacred destinations in the greater Himalayan region.
 

  
Konchog Norbu

Konchog Norbu is a member of Kunzang Palyul Chöling, a Buddhist temple in the Tibetan Nyingma tradition, where he has been an ordained monk since 1993. He serves as KPC's in-country staff for its Mongolian Buddhism Revival Project . In this capacity, he has made many trips to Khamariin Khiid in Dornogov, which he considers like a second spiritual home. Konchog maintains an online journal of his adventures in and out of Mongolia, Dreaming of Danzan Ravjaa.



  
  
Rick Taupier, PhD,

An ordained Buddhist layman, Rick Taupier has been a student of the Dharma since 1972. He is Associate Director of the Environmental Institute and a faculty member at the Univ. of Mass. at Amherst . He is pursuing a second PhD in the History of Buddhist Central Asia. Rick is the student of Tara Rinpoche, a former Sharpa Choeje of the Gelukpa Lineage and has studied with many fine teachers including Geshe Wangyal, the Kalmyk Mongolian disciple of the Buryat Geshe Agvan Dorjieff, H.H. the Dalai Lama, Zong Rinpoche, Locho Rinpoche, Geshe Lobsang Dorje, Rizong Rinpoche, and Lhading Rinpoche.
  
  
Vesna Wallace, PhD,
Associate Professor, University of California

Santa Barbara, California, USA

Vesna Wallace's field of learning consists of philological and textual study, as well as philosophical, historical, critical, and comparative analyses of Buddhist traditions. Vesna's writing and translation proficiency is highly regarded among her peers and includes: The Kalacakratantra: The Chapter on the Individual Together with the Vimalaprabha; The Inner Kalacakratantra: A Buddhist Tantric View of the Individual and A Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life by Santideva. As an Associate Professor for the Department of Religious Studies at University of California, she is presently conducting field research in Mongolia on Mongolian Buddhism and its revival.
 

Tibetan Mongolian Museum Society is a civic league of concerned international citizens who wish to advocate museum exhibition of Asian art from ancient Mongolia and the Greater Himalayan Region. Through a broad range of programs and projects, the Society's two primary focuses are: 1) to provide support to selected museums that enrich the arts with display of historically significant representations of Buddhist culture and 2) to protect sacred, religious shrines, from which Buddhist art is gathered for public sale or display against removal with consent, artifacts of any kind. Though not allied with any political group or religious sect, the Tibetan Mongolian Museum Society supports the fundamental humanitarian right to freedom of religious expression and is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes; including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
